My old card was set to expire this month, and the new card expires in 2012.
I was in a panic the other day because I had contacted them like 2 months ago about the card expiring, I needed to make sure my new card would get here in time so I'd be able to pay all my bills and stuff on time.
They assured me it would get here by the end of June, and it didn't, so I contacted them again and they said it would be here on time, my old card had already been closed because the new card was sent.
Sebastian just went out and grabbed the mail and it was in it so yay!
Now I just have to call and activate it, and I'll be able to pay my bills in the morning with no problems hopefully.
The reason I use Amscot instead of an actual bank, is because the state child support division is allowed to by law, access our bank accounts.
Not just to make direct deposits of child support, but to see who we make payments to.
If I had an actual bank account, they would have insisted on direct depositing my child support to that account and then they'd snoop which I totally don't like them being able to do.
It's not as though I'm doing anything illegal with my money, but I still don't think it's right that they can see who I paid money to and how much.
Amscot doesn't allow anyone to snoop in their customer's accounts, so child support refused to allow me to direct deposit to this card, and I took their child support debit card instead.
I totally disagree with homeland security's banking rules.
They have a right to look in any person's bank account if that person makes a deposit of $10,000 or more, and also withdraws or makes a payment to anyone for anything, in the amount of $1,000 or more.
So if you pay someone $1,000 for example, housing repairs, and you write them a check, homeland security has a right to look in your bank account, not just that transaction, but all of your transactions, you know, cuz you might be a terrorist.
It's ridiculous.

Well, they are snooping into our bank account, then, because our rent is just over $1000/month, and Mike had a student loan payment of about that much, too.
So I guess they must have also seen that check that Mike sent to renew his subscription to "Reason" magazine (a Libertarian publication). That mag is always speaking out against Homeland Security and the Patriot Act and all of that crap. I'm sure Reason talked about this bank thing too, it might have been a while ago, as I can't remember it now.
So I guess we are officially terrorists, too.
