When NBC flashed this on the screen, I called both boys to
come and see history in the making.
Regardless of who any of us voted for, we witnessed history tonight.
The very first black man to be elected president happened today, November 4th 2008, Barack Obama.
I have hope for our future under our new president, not because that's what he kept saying to us, but because no matter who won, I would have hope that they can fix this mess our country is in.
I'm not going to lie and say I didn't vote for him and that I'm not happy he won, I did vote for Obama, and I am happy he won.
But honestly, I never thought I'd see a black man become president in my lifetime.
I really didn't think I'd ever see it, and tonight, my sons and I witnessed history being made, we witnessed something I never thought I'd see happen.
I have hope that we can all move forward now, accept that he is president, and work together to get our country back on track.

Well said, and listening to McCains speech of congratulating Obama...lets come together and get this nation back together. I too voted for him, because either way it would of been history in the making but this just takes the cake.
My Son, 11 years old...had a voting thing with his school. Where all the kids voted., my Son who hasn't paid any attention to the presidential race said he voted for Obama. His remark, "he's young...the other guy is old and he may die....I want someone who will live longer."
Oh dear, imagine the chuckle I with that one.
God Bless America and He did yesterday I too voted for Barak Obama about a month
agao by absentee ballot. I believe he will make a huge difference in the way this country
is being run.
Moving forward is exactly what this country needs to do! It's going to take more than just a President to do so. Regardless of who that President is. We Americans need to step up and do some changing ourselves!
I couldn't agree more. I now have a bit of hope for this country's future. I just hope that these changes Obama's talked about come sooner rather than later. I waffled back and forth throughout the whole campaign run...I don't think McCain was a bad guy, I just don't see how he could possibly have the best interests of the average citizen on his mind when his lifestyle is, and has been, so far from average.
A major day in history ! I feel very emotional today and moved.
I too voted for Obama and am not ashamed to say so! Many of my coworkers voted republican and not that I have years of experience being 25 but I knew I was voting democrat cause they are for the people not for corporate America! I do admit I am worried about the safety of President Elect Obama due to some of the idiots out there and can only pray that he and his family will be safe! I'm ready for the changes he's going to bring!
I don't think I ever stayed up for an election as I did last night. I voted for him, too, and I so badly wanted to see him win. I just feel sad that his beloved grandma wasn't there to see this day; she would have been so proud of him. I think he will do an excellent job.
