My hair keeps falling out.

I don't understand why it just keeps falling out.
I can just run my hands through it and strands come out, I wash it and clumps come out, I condition it, and even more clumps come out.
I brush it after showering, and even more clumps come out.
My hair used to be incredibly thick and long, and now it's all thin and it just keeps falling out.

I don't understand why.
Why does it keep coming out?!
It won't stop, this makes me so incredibly sad, I'm losing my hair rapidly and it will not stop.
Every time I shower, more and more and more of it just keeps coming out.
This is today's loss.
These are clumps that fell out when I started shampooing, then clumps from when I conditioned it, and then finally when I brushed it.
I gathered up all of the clumps from the tub and the clumps from my hair brush, and from what fell on the floor, it's so much hair, and this happens every single time.
Why?!?!
How can I make this stop?!

you should google the side effects for each of the drugs you are on, I'm betting that one or more of them have "hair loss" as a side effect.

Another reason for hair loss is stress and you, my dear, have been under tonnes of THAT!

Bring up the hair loss with your doctor!

Blue pretty much covered everything I was going to say. I'm willing to bet it's got to be one of your drugs and maybe it's accelerated from the stress. I think that's a little excessive to be just stress.

Anesthesia will make your hair fall out for several years after surgery. Also, you might have your thyroid levels checked. If it gets too low, your hair will fall out. Lack of protein will do it, too.

In addition to what Blue and Jade said, perhaps it could partially be poor nutrition? You were really sick not long ago, so sick that you weren't able to eat. This would not be the sole cause, but it probably hasn't helped matters, either.

Definitely talk to your doctor about this. Maybe he can switch you to different meds, or come up with some other solution.

Wish I knew...your doctor might be able t shed some light on it, though. I, too, lose a lot of hair showering, brushing, etc, but it has not affected the thickness or anything yet. Maybe it won't. I'd be willing to bet it's a side effect of some of your meds, but then I don't know why it would have started happening suddenly and not from the beginning.

Hey, I came across your site randomly surfing on a completely other topic and became engrossed in your blog. Anyway, my thoughts on the hair loss. When it's that rapid it's either shock loss from some kind of surgery or stress. I'm not a doctor but that's my experience. Also I'd like to say keep your head up. I know from first hand experience that long term healing has stages. The mood swing thing is unbelievable. I'm not sure if that's what you're going thru, but if it is, it's tough. And mind body feedback is a real thing, especially noticeable when you are healing. From trial and error I found the way to keep myself on track was to make sure I got out and did stuff and was around other people and had a good diet. Anyway good luck. I hope that helps. Merry Christmas :)

The Out Campaign: Scarlet Letter of Atheism

Believing there's no God means I can't really be forgiven except by kindness and faulty memories. That's good; it makes me want to be more thoughtful. I have to try to treat people right the first time around.- Penn Jillette
