So much for global warming eh?
This is Florida and the weather here is so cold it cuts to the bone.
I know it's not like other states where winter means snow and below zero temps, I know what that is like, but winter here is a different kind of cold, it bites you.
When the teens and I went Maine to visit my folks in February, it was negative 5 with a wind chill of negative 10-15 every single day, but it didn't affect me like this is, this is really a different kind of cold.
I've had to run the small electric space heater all day, kept it on low, it kept the living room sorta warm at least.
Tonight, I'll move it into the dining room, make everyone leave their bedroom doors open, and I'll set it to medium and it should help keep the house mostly warm all night.
It's supposed to be another freeze night tonight, so yeah, gotta use the space heater.

When you talk freezing what are the temps there? I hear that in California is getting cold weather too.. im just wondering what you all mean by cold.. I hear that people in California say that temps in 70 is so cold for them.. .. I know you have alot of hardware in you that don't help getting chilled but when its negative temps here in IL our warm day today that was in the 30tys seemed like a heat wave lol..
Hope you keep your self and kids warm.. don't they have furnaces there in Florida? I loved it when I was there a few years ago we was there in Nov and was beautiful.. temps back at home was like minus something .. and when we was there they was in the 90tys and in the afternoon in the 70tys loved it

When it hits 30 degrees here, things freeze, plants free, get ice on them, the crops die.
All of Florida's oranges and strawberries, our natural produce, free and die.
This morning, it was 30 degrees with a wind chill that made it feel like 20.
Like I said in my post, it's a different kind of cold, but at 30, things freeze, plants die, water freezes up, ice forms on everything.
I do know what cold is, I lived in Maine for almost my entire life up to age 27, so I'm well aware of really, really cold temps, but when Florida is in a freeze warning, it's a very serious situation for us.
We literally do freeze at 30 degrees, and we stand the possibility of losing billions of dollars in natural Florida produce.
And no, we don't have furnaces here...LOL
Everyone has space heaters, some homes have fireplaces, but no, no homes are built with any type of heating system.
we have electric heat here in florida, which is useless. However, my old house had oil heat which was the best! a little stinky at first, and the furnace was kinda gross but the heat was great.
our houses are just not built for the cold weather and we have a wet cold versus the dry cold. we vacation way up in northwestern maine, so I agree, that cold is much easier to take than Florida cold.
Hope you feel better!
I feel your pain Kat. east Tx + cold front + humidity seems to be colder than it should be?
